Calling all animal lovers! You're invited to join the 16th annual Martin Luther King Day of Service on Monday, January 19 (there are many weekend events scheduled, too). Civic involvement was at the core of Martin Luther King's philosophy, so Congress initiated the annual day of service to coincide with the MLK holiday in 1994. Since then, people all across the U.S. have put their time and talents to good use on the third Monday in January.
