Ocean Beach Adventure

The sun finally came out today after an unseasonable five day cold spell and we enjoyed an afternoon at Ocean Beach in San Francisco. It was Tulip's second time visiting the ocean and she loved it. She doesn't know how to swim yet, but she definitely seems interested in learning! Dewey, on the other hand, tried to stay as far away from the water as possible, and pillage people's picnics...

Back in May, I flew through Phoenix on the way to visit my Grandma on the East Coast. I got to while away some time in the gift shops at the airport, and once I laid eyes on this little souvenir sombrero I knew that it was a very necessary addition to three-legged Dewey's wardrobe. He was a remarkably good sport about modeling it back home in California, but it did seem to make him very sleepy...

If you haven't already, I highly recommend getting your paws on the summer 2011 issue of The BARK magazine. It's loaded with great stories, including a thought provoking piece by Steve Smith from Rolling Dog Ranch about the difficulties involved with providing humanely sourced pet food (check it out by clicking HERE), a guest editorial that addresses misguided Pit Bull breed bans in some Canadian provinces, and a fantastic article by Dana Standish - Living With A Deaf Dog (This particular piece is not available online, but it's definitely worth buying a copy of The BARK just to read this excellent and informative story).
